What is archiving?
OpenTok API developers can capture and play back video chat streams using our new archiving feature. Archives are automatically stored in the cloud and played back at the same quality level as the existing OpenTok API.

Beta program info
Archiving is currently in beta. The beta program is expected to continue through the end of the fourth quarter of 2011. We will notify developers through the OpenTok forums before we end the beta program.
Additional limitations and conditions that apply during the term of the beta program:
- Free unlimited playback
- Free unlimited storage
- No guarantee of data retention or of protection against data loss

Additional info
- For legal reasons, you must notify your users if you plan to archive their sessions. The OpenTok interface automatically provides a default notification for end-users.
- Content is stored in the TokBox cloud (downloads are not supported in this beta).
- Record and play back is at the same level of quality as the existing OpenTok API.
- You can only record to one archive at a time within a single session.
- In the staging environment, archives will be deleted on a weekly basis.
- In the staging environment, session archives may be limited in length.
